As a person-centred therapist in Barcelona, I (Matt) offer a calm and supportive space where you can explore whatever feels important in your life right now. Many of the people I work with are expats adjusting to life in a new country, navigating change, loneliness, or the pressure to “settle in” while managing their own emotional world. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, self-confidence, relationship challenges, or simply feeling disconnected, therapy can help you find your footing again.
Originally from London, I moved to Barcelona in 2019 and offer both in-person and online therapy sessions. I am currently completing MSc in Person-Centred Psychotherapy at the Metanoia Institute in London and am registered with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). I have been working with clients for 2 years.
My work is grounded in empathy, authenticity, and respect. I believe that each person has the capacity for growth and self-understanding, and that meaningful change comes from being truly heard and accepted. IN our sessions, you’ll have the space to speak freely, reflect deeply, and move towards greater self-awareness at your own pace.
The Person Centred Approach
The person-centred approach is a form of talking therapy developed by Carl Rogers. Rather than diagnosing or directing, I focus on creating a genuine relationship built on trust, warmth and understanding. Together, we’ll explore your experiences in a way that helps you reconnect with your own sense of meaning an direction.
My role is not to give advice or tell you what to do, but to accompany you as you uncover your own answers. Over time, therapy can help you feel more at ease with yourself, strengthen your self-belief, and bring clarity to the areas of life that feel confusing or overwhelming.
Therapy in Barcelona and Online
I offer both in-person sessions in central Barcelona and online therapy for clients living elsewhere in Spain or across Europe. Online sessions can be especially useful for those who travel frequently or prefer the comfort of their own space.
All sessions are held in English, and I work with adults of all backgrounds, genders, and identities. Living abroad can bring a mix of excitement and challenge – it’s common to feel isolated, anxious, or unsure where to turn for support. Therapy offers a space where you don’t have to explain or justify how you feel, only to explore it safely and openly.
What to expect in therapy
Each sessions lasts 50 minutes and takes place weekly at a time that works for you. During our first meeting, we’ll take about what has brought you to therapy and what you hope to gain from it. From there, our sessions will unfold naturally around your needs.
You don’t need to prepare or know exactly what to say. Many people begin simply by describing what feels difficult, confusing, or stuck. Together we’ll explore your experiences, patterns and emotions in a way that feels grounded and manageable.
Why clients choose person-centred therapy
Person-centred therapy is gentle yet transformative. It’s particularly effective if you are seeking a non-judgemental, reflective space rather than a structured or directive approach. Clients often say that through this process they develop a clearer sense of self, improved emotional balance and a renewed ability to make choices that align with who they truly are.
