LGBT+ affirming therapy in Barcelona and online

LGBT+ affirming therapy in Barcelona should give you room to talk about what matters without assuming that your identity is either the whole story or something to avoid. Sexuality, gender or relationship diversity may be central to why you come, one part of a much wider picture, or not the issue at all.

You should not have to spend therapy educating your therapist about the basics of your identity, monitoring whether it is safe to mention a partner or wondering whether an important part of you will quietly be treated as the problem.

I offer individual therapy and couples therapy in English, in person and online.

Affirming does not mean making assumptions

As a member of the LGBT+ community, I bring lived understanding of some of the relief that can come from not having to explain every piece of context. I also know that my experience is not yours.

I will not assume how you identify, what your relationships should look like, whether you are out, what community means to you or how much attention sexuality or gender should receive in the work.

What LGBT+ affirming therapy in Barcelona can support

  • identity, coming out or deciding not to come out
  • shame, concealment or fear of rejection
  • family, faith, culture and belonging
  • dating, intimacy, sex and relationship patterns
  • minority stress, discrimination or feeling unsafe
  • body image, ageing or changes in community and identity
  • addiction, recovery or the role substances play in connection and escape
  • ordinary anxiety, grief, work pressure, low mood or life change that is not “an LGBT issue” at all.

Individual and couples therapy

I offer individual therapy and couples therapy for LGBT+ clients, including couples whose identities, relationship structures or histories do not fit a narrow template.

Couples work is not based on deciding what a relationship should look like. It focuses on how the people in it experience one another, the patterns that cause pain and what each person needs.

A person-centred space

The person-centred approach is grounded in acceptance, empathy and genuineness. You set the pace and decide what matters. My role is to meet you as fully as I can, including the parts of your experience that have previously felt unsafe, shameful or difficult to name.

Sessions and fees

Sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place weekly. Individual therapy costs €70, couples therapy costs €100, and the initial session is €30 for either format. Prices include IVA. Sessions are available in person in Barcelona and Badalona and online where appropriate. See the fees page for full details.

Frequently asked questions

Does the reason I come to therapy have to be connected to being LGBT+?

No. Affirming therapy means your identity is understood and respected; it does not mean every difficulty is interpreted through it.

Do you work with LGBT+ couples?

Yes. Couples therapy is available in person and online where appropriate.

Will you understand every part of my experience because you are also LGBT+?

No therapist can assume that. Shared community can reduce some explanation, but your experience remains uniquely yours.

Do I need to be out?

No. Therapy can include the complexity of disclosure, privacy and safety without pushing you toward a decision.
